Second Harvest Food Bank – Feeding Orange County | ACER ESG
On August 15, 2025, employees from Acer’s Irvine office in California volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, demonstrating Acer’s long-standing commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and sustainability. Through hands-on participation in community service, Acer continues to translate its corporate values into concrete actions that respond to real needs within local communities.
During the event, Acer employees worked alongside volunteers from various backgrounds at Second Harvest’s distribution center, assisting with the sorting and packaging of fresh fruits and vegetables. These food items were destined for families and individuals facing food insecurity across Orange County. By the end of the shift, the volunteer team helped process more than 3,300 pounds of nutritious produce, which was subsequently distributed to local schools, senior centers, shelters, food pantries, and community organizations, providing timely and tangible support to vulnerable populations.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County has long played a critical role in addressing regional hunger. Through a network of more than 270 community partners and over 300 distribution locations, the organization serves an average of more than 442,000 people per month, including children, working families, college students, seniors, unhoused individuals, and communities with limited access to affordable, healthy food. This volunteer event highlighted the strong alignment between Acer and Second Harvest in promoting social equity, supporting underserved populations, and strengthening community resilience, while demonstrating the positive impact that collaboration between corporations and non-profit organizations can achieve.
Beyond its immediate social impact, the event also supported Acer’s sustainability goals by helping reduce food waste. By assisting in the sorting and redistribution of rescued produce, volunteers helped prevent edible food from being sent to landfills, generating positive environmental outcomes alongside community benefits. For Acer employees, the experience went beyond a volunteer activity—it strengthened teamwork, boosted morale, and deepened connections with the communities where they live and work. Through initiatives like this, Acer continues to put into action its commitment to caring for society and giving back to communities, contributing to the development of a more equitable, healthy, and resilient society.

Volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank with my work team was a truly nostalgic and meaningful experience. It brought me back to the many service programs I participated in through my church during high school and mid-college, and returning to this kind of environment reminded me how good it feels to be useful and contribute to something bigger than myself.
