Hard drive installation instructions for Acer Aspire Nitro 5
This article only applies to: Nitro AN515-31, AN515-41, AN515-42, AN515-51, AN515-52 and AN515-53 models The Aspire Nitro 5 series includes a storage bay that allows for installation of a secondary 2.5" hard drive or solid state drive. Use the steps below to install a secondary drive in your system. Note: Acer recommends use of an anti-static wrist strap when adding hardware to your system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi3EK0pZ1qg Remove the AC adapter and make sure your system is completely powered off. Remove the screw securing the hard drive door to the lower case, and remove the door by lifting at the cut corner. Install the new hard drive in the hard drive module using the four screws included. Note: If there is no hard drive module present, please contact Acer support . Connect the hard drive cable to the new hard drive. Align and install the hard drive module into its slot on the lower case. Attach the four screws to secure the hard drive module to the lower case. Align the hard drive door latches in the slots on the lower case and press the hard drive door firmly until it is fully seated. Secure the hard drive door with the screw you removed in step one.
How to Use the Acer Nitro 5 Precision Touchpad
The touchpad controls the mouse cursor on the screen. As you slide your finger across the touchpad, the cursor will follow this movement. The Precision Touchpad (PTP) is designed to provide a more uniform, smooth, and accurate touchpad experience. The precision touchpad includes added technology features that help recognize and prevent unintentional gestures such as accidental taps, gestures, and pointer movement. Many applications support precision touchpad gestures that use one or more fingers, however, some gestures may not be supported by the specific application or program you are using. The Nitro 5 touchpad supports the following gestures: Note: The touchpad is sensitive to finger movement; the lighter the touch, the better the response. Please keep the touchpad and your fingers dry and clean. Single-finger slide Slide a finger across the touchpad to move the cursor. Single-finger press or tap Press the touchpad down, or lightly tap the touchpad with your finger, to perform a 'click', which will select or start an item. Quickly repeat the tap to perform a double tap or 'double click'. Two-finger press Lightly tap the touchpad with two fingers to perform a 'right click'. In the Start screen, this will toggle the app commands. In most apps this will open a context menu related to the selected item. Two-finger slide Swiftly scroll through web pages, documents and playlists by placing two fingers on the touchpad and moving both in any direction. Two-finger pinch Zoom in and out of photos, maps and documents with a simple finger-and-thumb gesture. Three-finger press Lightly tap the touchpad with three fingers to open the Search windows. How to Upgrade the SSD on Nitro V 15
The Nitro V 15 series includes two m.2 slots that allow you to upgrade your Solid State Drive (SSD) storage. You can add an additional SSD if you have an open slot, or you can upgrade the existing SSD drives if both slots are already populated. Use the instructions and reference information below for upgrading your device storage. How to Install an m.2 solid state drive in the ANV15-51 Remove the AC adapter and power the computer completely off by holding the power key for 5 seconds. Remove the 11 screws from the lower case. Starting at one of the corners, use your fingers or a plastic pry tool to carefully release the plastic clips. Work your way around the edges carefully pulling up to release all of the clips. Disconnect the battery from the mainboard, but do not remove the battery. Identify the proper slot to install the SSD drive in. The slot directly next to the battery labeled 1 supports PCIe Gen 4. The slot labeled with the number 2 only supports PCIe Gen 3. Remove the screw securing the SSD and remove the drive from the system. If the original SSD has mylar shielding around it, we recommend removing it from the old SSD and transferring it to the new one. Make sure to align it with the notches in the mylar as shown below , then wrap the mylar around the SSD and press down secure the adhesive on the mylar. Install the new SSD at a slight angle as shown in the image below and gently push down and secure it with the screw. Reconnect the battery to the mainboard. Place the lower case on the system and make sure it is properly aligned before you press down around the edges to secure all of the plastic clips. You should be able to hear them pop into place. Reinstall the screws to secure the lower case.
How to Backup Acer Nitro 5 Wireless and LAN drivers
You may want to back up your wireless and LAN drivers if you want to install another operating system, or if you just would like to have them around in case you encounter any issues. The Acer Recovery Manager software allows you to easily make a backup of these drivers. Click on Start ⊞ and click on All apps > to see a list of applications. Select Acer Care Center. Click on Recovery Management . Select the Backup tab and click on Get started for Backup wireless and LAN drivers . Choose a folder to save your drivers and select OK . Installing RAM Modules General Steps Remove the mylar tape covering the thermal pad area (if present). Install thermal pads as instructed for your specific RAM capacity upgrade. Insert the RAM modules into the slots at a 30° angle, then press down until they click into place. Upgrading to 32GB or 48GB Memory If installing 1 additional RAM module: Install a 5.5 mm thermal pad at the top position and remove the protective film. Insert the RAM module. If installing 2 additional RAM modules: Place a 1.5 mm thermal pad on top of the bottom RAM module and remove the protective film. Insert the second RAM module. If installing 3 additional RAM modules: Place 0.75 mm thermal pads on the top and bottom of the RAM slots (positions “2” and “3”). Insert two RAM modules into these slots. Place 1.5 mm thermal pads on top of the installed modules. Insert the remaining two RAM modules. Upgrading to 16GB Memory If installing 1 additional RAM module: Remove the protective film from the thermal sheet. Place the thermal sheet on the RAM module. Insert the RAM into the top slot . If installing 2 additional RAM modules: Place thermal sheets on both modules. Insert one module into the top slot and the other above the RAM in the bottom slot . If installing 3 additional RAM modules: Place thermal sheets on all three modules. Insert the RAM into all three slots . Reapply the mylar tape over the modules. Reassembly Reapply the mylar tape over the modules. Reinstall and reconnect the battery. Reattach the back panel, snapping it into place. Secure it with screws. Your RAM upgrade is now complete.

Acer Internal Battery Reset
You can attempt a battery reset if your battery is behaving abnormally, or your computer will not power on or off. This process will temporarily disconnect and then reconnect the internal battery. This will perform a software battery reset that may resolve the issue. If you want to use the Acer Electric Scooter Series 5 app to lock and unlock your Acer AES015 eScooter or check the battery status or remaining power in real time, you first need to download and install the app, and then connect the app to your Acer AES015 eScooter. For instructions on how to set up the Acer Electric Scooter Series 5 app on your smartphone, follow the instructions below. 1. Download and install the Acer Electric Scooter Series 5 app Open the Google Play Store app on your Android smartphone. Type acer electric scooter 5 in the search bar. In the list of search results, tap on the Acer Electric Scooter Series 5 app. Tap on the Install button to install the app on your smartphone.
