Dr. Charles Hsu is the Chairman and founder of eMemory Technology Inc., established in 2000 to provide the most innovative NVM IP technology. Under his leadership, eMemory has achieved significant technological breakthroughs and has become the leading global developer and provider of logic-based non-volatile memory (Logic NVM). Dr. Hsu has also expanded his focus to the cybersecurity market since 2016, and he founded PUFsecurity Corporation in 2019 — a subsidiary of eMemory dedicated to the development of secure chip IP.
Prior to founding eMemory, Dr. Hsu began his career as a researcher at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in New York, USA, in 1987. He later returned to Taiwan at the invitation of his alma mater, National Tsing-Hua University (NTHU), where he served as a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering from 1992 to 2000 and the Chairman of the Institute of Electronics Engineering from 1998 to 2000.
Dr. Hsu earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from NTHU in Taiwan and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. Renowned for his extensive research and inventions, Dr. Hsu holds over 200 patents and has published more than 120 papers on semiconductor devices. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Research Award from the Taiwan National Science Council, the National Invention and Creation Gold Medal Award from the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Distinguished Alumni Award of NTHU, and the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers, USA.
