According to the Q2 2014 data by IDC, Acer has made significant progress in its commercial PC business, the market segment that includes customers from corporations, education and the government. In EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Acer accomplished more than 100% year-on-year shipment growth across 11 countries for Total PCs, including Austria, Greece, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Bulgaria, Poland and Turkey, and in 10 countries for Portable PCs.
In the commercial segment, Acer ranked No. 4 for both the Portable PC and Total PC categories in EMEA, achieving 48.4% on-year growth for Portable PCs exceeding the industry average of 13%, and grew by 36.6% on-year for Total PCs, beating the industry average of 15.7%. In both categories Acer demonstrated the highest growth rates among the top 5 players.
For commercial business, Acer has strengths in the Education sector, with a full portfolio serving the needs of all levels of education: pre-school, primary & secondary school, university, and adult education. Acer also partners with experts in the education channel and ecosystem to continuously develop and research the best-in-class solutions for customers.
Acer's professional line of products are designed and tested for reliability, security, productivity and toughness; the portfolio includes products for mobile productivity, stationary solution and versatility at work, making them the ideal investments for businesses of all sizes.
In the overall PC market, that includes both consumer and commercial segments, Acer also performed very well across EMEA in Q2 2014. At Acer’s global press conference at IFA earlier this month, the company highlighted its exceptional performance in Germany in Q2 2014, where its shipment growth for Portable PCs and Total PCs more or less doubled year-on-year.
