Acer Listed on the MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes for Environmental, Social and Governance
TAIPEI, TAIWAN (2014-10-01)

Acer has been named a constituent of MSCI’s Global Sustainability Indexes for environmental, social and governance (ESG). Based on the research conducted, which focuses on intangible value assessment, Acer received an “A” rating overall and achieved high scores for the key issues of Supply Chain Labor Standards and Controversial Sourcing at approximately the 90th industry percentile. MSCI ESG Research is a leading provider of ESG ratings and analysis to the global investment community, covering more than 5,000 publicly traded companies worldwide.

Acer ranked in the top quartile relative to industry peers in the Technology Hardware, Storage and Peripherals category. For Controversial Sourcing the report noted that in the publishing of a specialized conflict minerals report, Acer had achieved “a level of transparency unmatched by its other Asian peers.” For Supply Chain Labor Standards the report said “our analysis found strong supply chain management initiatives.”

“Avoiding controversial sourcing, including the use of minerals from conflict zones, and improving supply chain labor standards are both areas of high importance for Acer,” said Richard Lai, associate vice president of Acer Corporate Sustainability Office. “We have been a member of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) since 2008 and cooperated closely with our suppliers to step up investigations.

Acer’s efforts toward responsible minerals sourcing span further with the joining of the Conflict-Free Smelter Program, and visits to smelters/refiners in China to further understand their source of upstream minerals.

Acer has been consistently recognized for excellence in corporate sustainability and social responsibility. Acer made its debut on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) this year, and since 2012, has been featured on the Reputation Institute’s CSR RepTrack® 100 list.
