Acer Educare helps schools maximize their technology budgets

Acer America today launched Educare, a unique portfolio of service offerings that extends the life of technology in the classroom and maximizes schools’ return on their IT investments. Designed exclusively for education customers, Acer Educare targets the specific needs of resource-constrained schools, delivering value-added services like battery replacements for heavily used notebooks and tablets, extended warranty and accidental damage coverage, and two-way freight for depot repairs.

“Acer has a strategic focus on the education market and we designed the Educare program based on direct feedback from schools about their main points of pain in the IT arena,” said Richard Black, director of commercial marketing for Acer America. “Schools today are asked to stretch their dollars further than ever and they typically have limited IT support for diagnosing and repairing problems. Based on this, we’ve developed a suite of services exclusively for educators that extends the length of warranty support, covers accidental damage, replaces highly taxed components, and provides options for on-site or depot repair.”

The Acer Educare portfolio includes the following options:

  • Warranties for new Acer notebooks, tablets and netbooks can be upgraded including three years of accidental damage protection, which is particularly critical for mobile products being used by children. If a student drops the notebook or spills a drink on it, Acer will repair or replace it, protecting the school’s investment. When these products need to be sent to a service center for repair, two-way shipping is included. Also, because battery life diminishes over time, batteries can be replaced up to once per year, so it will perform as well on a full charge in year three as it did in the first year. This service is available now for $179.99 (ESP – estimated street price) for new tablets and netbooks and at $219.99 (ESP) for new TravelMate notebooks.
  • Educare also offers enhanced coverage for new Acer projectors, another popular line of products with education customers. This program includes a three-year warranty extension including two-way shipping for repairs to be done at an Acer service center. While the industry-standard warranty on a projector’s light bulb is 90 days, the three-year warranty also covers bulb replacement. This bundle is available now for $99.99 (ESP).
  • Acer Educare includes options for new Acer desktop PCs with two additional years of warranty coverage, on-site service and two-way shipping, so the PC is covered whether the school prefers to bring a technician to campus for repairs or ship it to a depot for service. This service is available now for $89.99 (ESP).
