7 Sanity Saving Apps For Parents
Parenting isn't always easy. This comes as no surprise to us of course. Growing up in a large family, I remember it was a rare occasion for us to visit a restaurant as a family. There was always a screaming child, tipped drinks, and moments of mini chaos. As a parent now, I don't know if going out to eat would be possible without the smartphone. The moment when the drinks have yet to arrive and you can see the stir-crazy begin to form in your toddler's eyes? That look you give to your partner, and the hurried attempt to find that special game or app that will give you a moment of peace before your blessed food arrives.
This list I am sharing with you today are the apps that will help you as a parent when you are feeling restless or out of sorts. The smartphone can be a saving grace for us as parents too.
Today's Parent: FREE
This free app is filled with helpful tips, recipes, developmental articles, and advice for your child from pregnancy until your child reaches adulthood. You can create a profile for each of your children. You can find name ideas for your baby to be, create photo memories through the app, and even enable the potty training application to help encourage your baby through the potty training process...
Big Oven: FREE
Meal planning has been and will likely always be a struggle for me. Coming up with something new to make and remembering which ones were a home run and which were a strike… it can be hard to keep that information all in one place. With over 350,000 recipes, BigOven is full of ideas about what to make for dinner. BigOven enables you to save your favorites, search new recipes, utilize a meal planner, and even help you create recipes from items you already have in your refrigerator.
Cozi Family Organizer: FREE
Keeping track of your entire family's schedule can be difficult, especially when your children become older and are a part of so many different activities and lessons. Cozi has the ability to link all of your family members under a shared password to access chore charts, activities, lessons, recipes, and even the grocery list.
If you have children that are older and have access to their own smartphone, this will certainly be a game changer for you as they will be able to upload their own activities and make sure everyone is on the same page.
Kid's Wellness Tracker: FREE
The kid's wellness tracker is an awesome way to keep track of your child's health long term and short term. You can track your child's growth, vaccines, and even dosage suggestions for medicine based on age/weight. This app is especially helpful to keep track of your child's symptoms when they are sick. My husband was so overwhelmed when he had to take our son into the doctor alone because he didn't realize he needed to know temperatures, doses of medicine given, or overall behavior. This app makes reporting to the doctor much easier if you track the symptoms as they come along.
This may seem a funny fit for this list, but trust me it belongs! As a member of Amazon you have the world at your fingertips. If you are a member of Amazon Prime you can have things shipped to you for free in just two days. I love the Amazon Mom program that provides discounts on common baby items. Recently I ordered a double stroller for our trip to Disney World and had it shipped and waiting at my hotel so I didn't have to worry about traveling with it one way. I also love that I can easily buy my child's favorite binkie without having to hunt for the right one in the grocery store. I could go on and on, but it is just so convenient.
Sit or Squat: FREE
This one is a little funny, but oh so necessary. Nothing is worse than not knowing where the closest bathroom is. This is especially true if you have a baby with a poopy diaper or a potty training toddler. Trust me, this bathroom app finder is your friend.
WebMD Baby: FREE
Becoming a new parent is overwhelming. This app is an awesome tool to help you through all of your questions of becoming a parent. Want to keep track of how much your baby is eating, where your baby should be on the growth chart, how to lose baby weight, or how to deal with colic, this app has it all. One of my favorite features of this app is the ability to keep track of your baby's firsts with photographs and share them with your family. You can also watch videos from pediatricians and experts on hundreds of different topics.
I hope these apps will help you in those crazy, frazzled moments when you just need a little help!
