Acer has won five prestigious Computex Taipei Design & Innovation (d&i) awards this year. The revolutionary Aspire R7 notebook with Ezel™ hinge, new Aspire S7 Ultrabook™, T2 and H6 monitors, and Orbe cloud storage device impressed the judges with their outstanding features and designs.
Computex Taipei cooperates with the world-leading industrial design institution iF Design, to organize the awards and honor products that stand out with excellent design. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, design quality, choice of materials, environmental friendliness, functionality and brand value, among others.
Aspire R7 Notebook
The Aspire R7 features the patented Ezel™ hinge, which brings the touchscreen within easy reach and provides two levels of resistance for best use: low resistance for easily converting the Aspire R7 into four usage modes with one hand, and high resistance to ensure a wobble-free touch experience.
The Aspire R7's four powerful speakers with Dolby® Home Theater® v4 blast four times the acoustic power of conventional notebooks. Plus, audio channels automatically reverse when the screen is flipped over to display mode, so stereo sound is always perfectly positioned.
Aspire S7 Ultrabook
The new S7 Ultrabook is remarkably slim, and made with premium materials and construction. It features a dual-torque, T-shape hinge frame design, which enhances stiffness when using touch control. The S7's beautiful Gorilla® Glass 2 cover is smooth to the touch, thin yet strong, scratch resistant, and easy to clean. The display can be opened a full 180° and the image orientation easily reversed for convenient sharing. The aluminum unibody is ultra-thin, super tough, stylishly finished, and ideal for the road. In addition, the light-sensing electroluminescent (EL) backlit keyboard with refined keystroke is comfortable even in dim settings and makes typing feel more natural.
The T2 Series monitor is supported by a stylish asymmetric stand, giving it a futuristic look. To enhance comfort and touch control during sustained use, the viewing angle can be adjusted by up to 60°. Ten-point multi-touch technology guarantees that the T2 monitor delivers optimum touch experiences and fingertip control.
In addition, the edge-to-edge glass screen creates a floating design effect, and the new-generation LED panel with IPS technology delivers a very wide viewing angle that gives users crystal-clear views from many different perspectives.
The Acer H6 Series monitor features zero frame construction, sporting a very thin .08" frame to provide seamless visuals when used for video walls consisting of multiple monitors placed side-by-side and/or on top of each other. The brushed hairline finish has aesthetic appeal, and the magnetic surface of the stand allows users to store paper clips within easy reach.
Beyond its smart exterior, the H6 is rich in eco-friendly features, including mercury-free white LED backlighting and Acer EcoDisplay technologies.
Orbe Cloud Storage
Enabled by AcerCloud, the Acer Orbe personal cloud storage device lets users store, access and manage files and media content from all their PCs and mobile devices over the Internet anytime, anywhere. AcerCloud automatically syncs files and media content across different operating systems: Windows, Android™ and iOS. Photos taken using mobile devices can also be saved automatically to Acer Orbe.
All winning products will be exhibited at the d&i awards pavilion during Computex Taipei from June 4 to 8, 2013, and then go on tour to be displayed at other ICT exhibitions, including CeBIT Hannover, CES Las Vegas, GITEX Dubai and IFA Berlin.
